Scott USA won the team title of the 19th annual Sun Valley Town Series of dual modified giant slalom races Wednesday on Baldy's Cozy ski run. On the Scott USA champions were John Zuck, John Reagle, Toby Arnett and Jeff Page. They finished with 0.26 points for the seven-week, 28-team series, well ahead of second-place Casino Dancing Bears (1.38) and third-place Wood River Masonry (1.48). Northview finished 3-1 at a tournament at the Disney Complex in Orlando, improving to 17-8 for the year. The Cougars beat Episcopal (Texas) 14-2 and 11-3 in the first two games, lost to Bel Air Heights (Texas) 5-4 in eight innings then beat Friendship Christian (Tenn.) 17-6. In the opener, Mollie Hanson was the winning pitcher, striking out nine and allowing just two hits.  

The 56th minute of Tuesday night's home game against the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs was a good time for Tigers junior forward Ashley Brown to come up with her first goal of the season. It won the game. To that point, the Tigers had scarcely touched the ball on the Bulldogs' defensive half.

Boarhound enjoyed a welcome 3-2 win over Vale in the Macc and District Sunday League's Premier Division. The Hound welcomed back several key players missing from last weekend's defeat to Macc Boys Seniors. Back into defence came Matty Roberts, with Gareth Gibbons forming a familiar strike partnership with Dec Fletcher up front.  

Wicksburg let a three-run lead slip away in the top of the seventh in the second game of a doubleheader with Andalusia with four defensive errors. Owen Brown saved the Panthers, belting a walk-off grand slam in the bottom half, giving Wicksburg a split of the twin bill, 8-4. The Bulldogs won the opener 3-1 behind a five-hit complete game pitching effort from Zack Ward. Brown finished game two with two hits and five runs batted in, highlighted by the slam.  

Four years of Summers County domination have brought an inevitable rise in expectations and, as expectations rose, they brought something else: pressure. The weight of those expectations might easily have crept into the Bobcats' psyches in Saturday afternoon's championship, especially as the upstart Scott Skyhawks posed threats and the pro-Scott crowd raised a frightful din. And besides, the Skyhawks were willing to run with their fast-breaking opponent.

Summers County continued their amazing streak on Friday afternoon, advancing to the Class-AA State Title Game at Ravenswood's expense, 69-43. It marked the Lady Bobcats' 67th straight victory. From the start, it never looked in doubt, either.
